Tehri Dam finds its place on top of the list of other Indian dams like Bhakra Nangal Dam of Himachal Pradesh, Hirakud Dam of Orissa, Nagarjunasagar Dam of Andhra Pradesh, and Sardar Sarovar Dam of Gujarat. Praised as Asia’s largest dam, it has established a record of deploying one of the major hydroelectric projects.
During the period of its construction, entry to the region was restricted; but now, you can book your stay in any of the
resorts of Tehri and witness the marvellous natural beauty of Uttarakhand. Best time to be in this part of the world is during the period from February to April and from September to March. Tourists would also enjoy being in this region during the period from April to June. Kanatal and Dhanaulti are the places close to it that are worth visiting. Kanatal is a hilly terrain, where you can enjoy walking through the dense jungles of deodar and pine. You can come across some beautiful orchids and gardens full of apples while taking a Jeep ride through mountain slopes.
